The Project was a military experiment designed to bring about psychic abilities in humans. Those subjects who successfully displayed psychic abilities were given numbers. At least forty-one subjects were known to have displayed such abilities.

HistoryEdit

The Project was initiated some time in the 1960's, collating, and analysing data[1]. By the 1970's, based on the findings of the project's studies, a group of people who displayed certain traits were brought together[1]. These first subjects used for experimentation, and developing training methods[1].

A controversial scholar, specialising in physiology of the central nervous system, later joined the project[1]. This scholar was seen as eccentric, and his research viewed with derision[1], but his research brought on dramatic results[2]. The subjects of this scholars experiments, numbers 20-30, were noted as having highly developed psychic abilities[3].

At some point during these experiments, the powers of Subject 28, Akira, grew out of control, leading to the destruction of Tokyo[4].

The Project was picked up again 5 years before the destruction of Neo-Tokyo in 2030[5], under the control of Colonel Shikishima, and headed by Doctor Onishi and seemingly ended with his death.
